Flavor of the Week - February 13, 2011

Retro Flavor

As you already know from my fashion bio, I do adore the artistic vigor of Keisha Knight Pulliam.  Maybe it's because we are from the same generation or that I grew up watching her on the Cosby Show. :)  Nonetheless, in the photo above, she rightfully deserves my Flavor of the Week vote because of the retro appeal that she showcased!  I love how classic she looks in her polka dot tie neck blouse, hot pink pleated skirt with a large bow waistband, black tights, and black patent leather round toe pumps!

Mint Message:

You can gain the same look for work or even a night out on the town.  Wear a feminine blouse in a pastel color and a black pencil or flounced skirt with a medium to wide belt to create a similar look.  You can also wear fishnets or lace hose with pointy toe pumps or even flats to have the same styling effect.

Check out a look that I rocked not too long ago and I created it even before I saw this photo.  I guess great fashion minds think alike!! :)

I did something a little different...I played with a neutral color palette and wore a Mango bone tie neck blouse, Mango tweed flounced skirt with matching belt, Calzedonia patterned tights with vintage Donald J. Pliner open toed wedges.  All from Barcelona, Spain with the exception of the shoes. Remember, it's not always about replicating the exact style of someone else, but to embrace and inspire your own fashion creations.  I like being fashionably different and you probably do too!  :)

So go out and play dress up!

What do you think about Keisha's look or even mine for that matter?  :)
